Avoiding The Tax

The city of Toronto saw its new land tax take effect on February first this year.  Any homes bought before this deadline were exempt but any purchased after will find an additional bill for approximately $3000-4000 for the average home.  Factoring in this extra cost it is not difficult to see that many people in the market for a new home will move out of Toronto in to cities such as Hamilton and Burlington.  Considering all costs associated with buying a home, it won’t take prospective buyers long to realize they can move in to a neighbouring city and save a good sum of money.
