Eco Friendly Annex Condos

By Rob Parker at 11:54 am on June 16, 2008 | No comments

Homes that can generate as much energy as they consume will be coming to Toronto’s Annex area soon. The new condo units are designed to maximize energy efficiency. How can a condo unit achieve this many would ask? The shower water will be filtered and used again to flush the toilets. The insulation installed in each condo will be approximately two and a half times thicker than what is commonly used. With the thicker insulation the rooms will retain heat better in the winter and will remain cooler in the spring and summer. Recycled materials will be used during construction and solar panels will generate much of the electricity that will be needed. The condos are located in an area of the annex where a car will not be necessary. Shopping, market and other amenities will be within walking distance so harmful pollution from vehicles can be eliminated.

Future Move To Oakville

By Rob Parker at 7:28 am on June 13, 2008 | No comments

A move to Oakville may soon be in the future for many Windsor residents. Hundreds if not more Ford employees laid off from the Windsor plant will be eyeing a move to the city of Oakville if they should land one of the coveted positions in the Oakville plant. While packing up the family and making a three hour move is stressful on the family the city of Oakville has much to offer. A beautiful community situated along the lake is a great place to continue raising a family. While the Ford employees will be paying more for an Oakville home than they did in Windsor they will also watch their new home increase in value at a quick rate.

Imaginative Loft Design

By Rob Parker at 7:11 am on | No comments

With some crafty engineering and imaginative design one Toronto developer will manage to fit twenty four lofts into a space that would normally fit one detached home. When completed, the project called Stage East Lofts will sit on the corner of Queen and Leslie Street. The creative design will consist of two buildings each at five storeys high. The two will be linked by an interior courtyard and will feature an exterior elevator. With the amount of building and construction that has taken place in the downtown core there is very limited space in the city to build new on. Therefore Toronto city officials are encouraging developers to build up rather than spread out, and that is exactly what many are trying to do.
