The big price tag on homes and condos in Toronto has made many buyers start looking at areas outside of the city such as the Durham region. The areas that make up the region of Durham have traditionally been known as the most affordable market in the surrounding Toronto area. Recently less costly town homes and semi detached home communities have popped up everywhere and buyers are scooping them up. The Durham region is also lucky enough to still have plenty of land to build on unlike Ajax and Pickering. A new home in Durham can be bought on average for approximately under three hundred and fifty thousand dollars. A figure you will not see in Toronto for a comparable home. Potential home buyers are deciding to sacrifice taking the commute in to work for getting a bigger home and more property in Durham than they would in Toronto.
