The city of Bowmanville celebrated its one hundredth and fiftieth birthday this year. On top of this celebration the downtown area has undergone a recent transformation where interlocking sidewalks and historical street lamps were added. Bowmanville residents are very proud of their community. Located fifteen kilometres from Oshawa and just over an hours drive from Toronto, Bowmanville is close enough to the city life for many but still maintains the small town charm feel others want. The town of Bowmanville is on the list as another town rapidly expanding in growth of construction of new homes and businesses.  A town that was once known as a relatively quiet town now finds itself dealing with “rush hour” traffic on some of its main streets.  Many citizens of Bowmanville are finding that the streets in the towns centre are ill prepared when big box stores such as Home Depot move in to the area.
