Condo Tower In Downtown Hamilton?

A well known condominium developer by the name of Harry Stinson is making a bid to start building out in Hamilton Ontario.  Stinson, once known as the condo King of Toronto, wants to build a reported eighty story condo tower in the heart of downtown Hamilton above the historic hotel.  It would seem that since Toronto already has its fair share of glass, steel and concrete jungles some developers see making the into the GTA beneficial.

Avoiding The Tax

The city of Toronto saw its new land tax take effect on February first this year.  Any homes bought before this deadline were exempt but any purchased after will find an additional bill for approximately $3000-4000 for the average home.  Factoring in this extra cost it is not difficult to see that many people in the market for a new home will move out of Toronto in to cities such as Hamilton and Burlington.  Considering all costs associated with buying a home, it won’t take prospective buyers long to realize they can move in to a neighbouring city and save a good sum of money.

Hamilton-Burlington Area Scores Big

Despite concerns Canada’s real estate market would suffer problems similar to that of the United States market,  Canada had its existing home sales top the $100 billion dollar mark last year.  Results show that the increases happened throughout the whole country, and the Hamilton-Burlington area was one area to experience its highest annual home sales record to date.

Hamilton & Burlington Are Not Complaining

The cities of Hamilton and Burlington Ontario can add themselves to the list of notable increases in condo sales recently.  Much like the greater Toronto Area the number of condos sold in the Hamilton and Burlington areas are up, with over 2000 units sold this year.  According to the article that is a ten percent increase from last year’s sales.
